Hey there, welcome to my blog, A Southern Inspired Life! I’m Mary Beth and I’m new to this whole blogging thing. So, since I love reading other blogs so much and spending hours upon hours on Pinterest anyway, I figured that I might as well start my own! We shall see how it goes!
For as long as I can remember, I have loved all things Southern, which makes sense because I was born and raised in a small town in Virginia, and on a farm no less! I have lived in Virginia all of my life and wouldn’t have it any other way. I grew up in Bedford, attended the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, and now reside in a suburb of Richmond. I love the slower paced life in the south…and its sweet tea and porches!
I have been married to my husband Gary, also a UVA graduate, for 21 years. I have been a stay at home mom ever since my oldest daughter, Holly, was born. She is 19 and just finished her freshman year at JMU (Go Dukes!) I also have a 17 yr-old daughter, Hannah, and a 14 yr-old son, Sam. As a stay at home mom, I have dedicated my life to raising my three children, making our house a home, and saving money every chance I get.
I have always loved decorating our home and putting my touch on things. As a kid, I enjoyed constantly rearranging my bedroom to give it a new, refreshed look. Thriving on challenges, I think about how I can make a room function better, can I find an item cheaper somewhere else, how can I get that stain out, or how can I use what I already have to make a room more appealing. I like trying new ways to solve a problem. My true life’s work, however, is raising my children to have a strong character, good manners, a big heart, and to be independent. The biggest compliment to me is when others compliment them.
A better way to get to know me, is for me to share a quick list of my loves, dislikes, and how I see myself.
